Who We Are

The Oncology service at Southeast Veterinary Specialists provides diagnosis and medical management of our cancer patients. The diagnosis of cancer in a pet does not mean treatment is not available. We can help families decide which treatment options are best for their pet's individual type of cancer. Our team of doctors provide compassionate, supportive care for both pets and their families throughout the phases of cancer treatment.

Appointments

Appointments and procedures are scheduled on Monday through Thursday. Chemotherapy appointments are scheduled according to the treatment protocol, and will often require your pet to stay for part of the day. Emergency oncology appointments can be arranged by your veterinarian or through Southeast Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, our 24/7 emergency service. No appointment is necessary to bring your pet in through the emergency service.

Chemotherapy

The term "chemotherapy" is often frightening for pet owners. It is our opinion that the focus of cancer treatment in pets should always be on maintaining a good quality of life. Our oncology department develops cancer treatment protocols that can maximize survival and minimize the side effects of medication. Many medications can be given effectively with minimal to no complications. We meet with each client and develop a treatment plan that fits lifestyle, budget, and patient needs. With these goals in mind, pets and their families can enjoy the quality time that they have been given.
