Maintenance

Keeping this large hospital clean and in working order requires constant attention. A clean, comfortable environment is critical in a healthcare facility. The maintenace of our hospital is vital to our patient care, and Tony keeps us functioning at full capacity.

Open MRI Unit

SVS houses the first MRI facility available for pets in the state of Lousiana. Our veterinary patients require general anesthesia during an MRI exam, and closed magnets make monitoring difficult. Our open unit allows us to easily see patients and assess depth of anesthesia without disrupting the imaging process. All of the MRI studies performed at SVS are read by a board certified veterinary radiologist.

Digital Imaging Services

Our digital imaging system provides excellent image quality to enhance the diagnostic capability of our specialists. It is a direct digital system which means the images are processed in as little as 4 seconds without the need for film. The images are then stored on a PACS server for access by our specialists. Our specialists can see images and provide consultations after normal business hours, even if they are not physically in the hospital.

Orchids
Ultrasound

Ultrasound services are provided for our hospitalized cases or by outpatient appointment ordered by your veterinarian. Dr. Beth Partington, a board certified veterinary radiologist (Diplomate, ACVR), provides imaging services at SVS.

Orchids
Chemotherapy

The term "chemotherapy" is often associated with a scowl from pet owners. This is usually because of a bad experience with a human family member. At SVS, we consider quality of life to be more important than quantity. For this reason we can develop a protocol that is much less toxic and can keep your pet happy and healthy during his or her cancer treatment

Orchids
Radioactive iodine therapy

Radioactive iodine is considered to be the most definitive treatment for feline hyperthyroidism. It is a safe, simple injection that provides complete remission in most cats that would otherwise require medicine for the rest of their lives. SVS is the only hospital in the New Orleans area to provide this service.

Orchids
Administration

Our doors would not be open if it were not for our administative staff. They keep us staffed and equipped to practice our high quality medical care. Our managers are always availble to help you if you have a question about billing or hospital procedures.
